My Work
I try to express things that are personal to me and relatable to other people. I find it to be pretty awesome when people connect with my art and want it to be a part of their life. My art is an expression of my experiences, emotions, inspirations and stories.

Zach Kidwell is a Dallas-based abstract artist whose work explores movement, memory, color, and emotional response through layered, expressive compositions. A third-generation artist, Zach grew up around the studios and creative influence of his father, Brian Kidwell, an assemblage sculptor with work in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, and his grandfather, Al Kidwell, an abstract artist whose work has been held in major private and public collections.
Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media on canvas, Zach creates paintings that balance instinctive mark-making with structure, rhythm, and restraint. His work often begins with color: not just as a visual choice, but as a way to tell a deeper story. Recent series, including The Secret Lives of Color and The Universe in 100 Colors, explore the histories, origins, and strange science behind color itself, connecting pigment to geology, atmosphere, memory, and the physics of light.
Zach’s paintings have been exhibited at The Other Art Fair in Dallas and Chicago, where his work has been collected by private buyers across the country. His pieces are known for their scale, texture, and ability to shift depending on the space, light, and distance from which they are viewed.
At its core, Zach’s work is about creating something that feels alive on the wall. Each painting invites the viewer to slow down, look closer, and find their own point of entry into the movement, color, and layered history of the piece.
